If you look carefully through the pine trees on the mountains, you can even catch a glimpse of some of the slides from our rooftop terrace.

With over 20 attractions spread across kids, family, and thrill-seeker zones, Water World has something for every member of the family — from splashy toddler pools to adrenaline-pumping free-fall slides. Here's everything you need to plan the perfect day out.

What Makes Water World Special for Families

Water World isn't just another water park. Opened in Lloret de Mar, it has grown into one of Spain's most popular aquatic parks, and for good reason: it genuinely caters to all ages. While many parks focus on extreme rides and leave little ones with a single paddling pool, Water World dedicates entire zones to younger children with trained staff supervising the play areas.

The park sits on a hillside surrounded by Mediterranean pines, which means there are shaded spots throughout — a lifesaver when the Costa Brava sun is at its peak. The layout is well thought out, with family zones close to food outlets, changing areas, and first aid stations.

Kids Zones: Perfect for Under 6s

Kiddie Island

This is the star attraction for toddlers and young children. A colourful pirate ship sits at the centre of a shallow pool (max depth 0.55m) surrounded by mini slides, water cannons, hydro-arcs, geysers, and swings. Everything is designed for children up to 6 years old, and experienced animators dressed as friendly pink hippos keep the little ones entertained and safe.

Baby River & Fun River

Two gentle water channels with a maximum depth of just 0.40m. These are ideal for babies and toddlers who are just getting comfortable with water. The current is very mild, and kids love floating along.

Kids Water World

A dedicated play area with interactive water features, small slides, and splash pads. It's the kind of place where kids can play independently while parents relax on nearby sun loungers.

Pro tip: Head to the kids zones first thing in the morning. They're quieter before 11am, and you'll have plenty of space to set up near the shallow pools.

Family Attractions: Fun for Everyone

Tornado Land (New in 2024)

Water World's newest family zone features eight slides of varying intensity, all in a beautifully themed area. Children from 0.80m tall can enjoy the gentler slides, while braver kids can work their way up to more exciting options. The maximum pool depth is 0.75m, so it's reassuringly shallow.

Rafting River

One of Europe's largest rafting rivers at 215 metres long. Hop into a four-person boat as a family and float through twists and turns. The minimum height is 0.80m, making it accessible for most children over 3. This is a crowd favourite — expect queues during peak hours.

Water Mountain

A 250-metre water coaster with twists, climbs, and dark sections. It sounds intense but is actually family-friendly, with a minimum height of 1.08m. Older children (roughly 5+) absolutely love the surprise twists and the sense of adventure.

Racing Slides

Six parallel slides where the whole family can race side by side. A traffic light system crowns the winner at the bottom. Minimum height is 0.80m, and kids find the competitive element irresistible.

Wild River

A lazy-river-style attraction with a gentle current that carries you along. Perfect for cooling down between more active rides. Minimum height 0.80m.

Thrill Rides for Brave Kids (and Parents)

For children over 1.20m (roughly age 8+), the thrill zone opens up:

• Tornado King (New 2025) — Europe's first Double Tornado Wave 60. A jaw-dropping ride that is the park's headline attraction.
• Kamikazes — Steep, fast drops for serious adrenaline seekers.
• Speed Furious — A near-vertical free-fall slide. Not for the faint-hearted.
• Storm — An 80-metre enclosed tube that spits you out into a whirlpool. For confident swimmers only (pool depth 1.80m).
• Hurricanes — Two-person boat ride with dramatic drops and curves.
• X-trem Mountain — A 260-metre uphill water coaster taking around 2 minutes. All the thrills of Water Mountain, turned up a notch.

Pro tip: If your kids are just tall enough for the thrill rides, start with Hurricanes or X-trem Mountain — they're exciting but not as intense as Kamikazes or Speed Furious.

Pools for Relaxing

When you need a break from the slides:

• Wave Pool — One million litres of water generating Mediterranean-style waves. Great fun, but the max depth is 1.80m, so it's best for confident swimmers and older children.
• The Bay & Family Lagoon — Chill-out pools with lounging areas around them. Deeper water (1.50m-1.60m), so keep younger ones in arm floats.
• The Calm — True to its name, a relaxed pool with a maximum depth of 1.50m.

Getting There

From our penthouse in Fenals, Water World is about a 5-minute drive. If you prefer not to drive, free shuttle buses run from the Lloret de Mar bus station every 30 minutes (departures 9:00–11:00 and return trips 16:00–18:00). The park has its own car park.

What to Pack for Your Water World Day

• High-factor suncream (SPF 50+) — reapply every 2 hours, especially after water
• Water shoes — the paths between attractions can get hot underfoot
• Swim nappies for babies and toddlers
• Rash vests for extended sun protection on little ones
• A waterproof phone pouch — you'll want photos
• Towels — available for rent too, but bringing your own saves money
• A small cooler bag — the park allows outside food and drink in the picnic areas

Pro tip: Rent a locker at the entrance to stash valuables. They're reasonably priced and mean you don't have to worry about bags while on the slides.

Food & Dining

Water World has several food outlets spread across the park, serving burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, and ice cream. There's also a dedicated picnic area if you prefer to bring your own food — a great option for fussy eaters or families with dietary requirements.

For a sit-down meal, the park restaurant offers a broader menu. Prices are typical water park fare — not cheap, but not outrageous.

1. Arrive at opening time. The first hour is magical — short queues and cooler temperatures for little ones.
2. Hit the popular rides first. Rafting River and Tornado Land get busy by midday.
3. Take a midday break. The sun is strongest between 12pm and 3pm. Use this time for lunch in a shaded area or the picnic zone.
4. Bring arm floats. Essential if your kids want to enjoy the wave pool or deeper areas.
5. Plan for the whole day. With 20+ attractions, you'll want at least 5-6 hours to enjoy everything.
6. Book tickets online. Usually cheaper than gate prices, and you skip the entrance queue.
